We work through your looks together. I'll direct you on posing and expression so you're not just standing there guessing. If something isn't working, we adjust. The goal is to get at least one image you actually want to use.

3. Choose Your Favorites

Within 48 hours of your session, you'll receive a preview gallery to review. You pick your favorites, and I'll deliver the fully retouched final images to your private gallery within two weeks.

John was amazing! Just a really friendly guy who you instantly feel comfortable with all while being professional. I don't like getting my picture taken, much less getting professional headshots but he actually made it fun! He gives really good direction during the photoshoot. He works with you to get amazing shots. He works with you to get the photos you want. The photos I ended up with were not edited to make it look like an AI photo and in the end, I truly felt like the headshots I got looked like the best version of me.

John knew that I had a deadline and there were specifications, as these headshots were for my residency application (ERAS). He got the photos to asap! Any time I had a question he was quick to respond. I had an issue uploading my headshot onto my online application, he immediately fixed the photo dimensions to make it work!

His prices are reasonable. The cost of my headshots were around what everyone else was charging. He did a great job! It was well worth the money I spent!

TL;DR - great for medical professionals, great for people who hate getting pictures taken, wonderful personality, makes photoshoot easy and not stressful, great results.

Full review: I fount John Armato when searching for a photographer who does headshots for medical professionals in the greater DC area. I wanted to have good photos for my residency application and have never considered myself photogenic. I chose to work with John because of the good reviews and because I liked all the photos on his portfolio. Additionally, his pricing was similar to competitors but included limitless outfit changes and a longer photo session. I was a little nervous ahead of the shoot because I don't consider myself photogenic and my only experience with professional photos was school yearbook photos and passport photos. John was warm, professional, and easy to work with. He naturally put me at ease and gave very clear coaching to get less tense photographs. He makes a lot of jokes to get natural smiles on camera and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Additionally, he takes frequent pauses in the process to review photos taken so far to get an idea of which photos/looks the client is leaning towards. Because photos are periodically reviewed throughout the photoshoot, choosing a final photo at the end is quick. Not only did I like a photo of myself, but I actually liked TWO photos so much that I chose to keep both. Would absolutely book again and have personally referred friends and colleagues.

PRICING: session is very competitively priced. Photos are $150 or $155 each, which seems at the higher end of typical rates in DMV area but worth quality IMO.

RESPONSIVENESS TO EMAIL: very responsive, clear communication, no confusion on location, timing, or what to expect on day of photoshoot

LOCATION: I had photoshoot done at rockville location in a rented studio. There was free parking, good lighting, area to hang clothes and separate room for outfit changes, bathroom, well-lit area for hair and makeup.

PROFESSIONALISM: 5/5, felt safe and respected
