Q: How important is a consistent wardrobe in an on-location shoot?
A: A common theme could be useful, but it is not as important as you might think. Because we’re on location in the Rockville or Washington DC area-, will the common background and position will do a lot to “brand” each photograph - even if the wardrobe elements do not match from person to person? More important than color or type, is comfort. Feeling confident and comfortable in your clothing, hair, and makeup can be conveyed in your headshots!
Q: Can we discuss possible locations within our offices before you arrive?
A: Sure - and you’re welcome to send some photos from around the office. We’ll discuss our space requirements at the time of booking and we can be flexible once we get on location and have a look at the lighting and layout. The weather that day could even impact our choice of location due to grey skies and odd lighting.
Q: How can we help our team prepare for your on-location day to maximize time and minimize anxiety and impact?
A: Please reassure the team that John has extensive experience in making each subject of his headshot photos feel at ease and comfortable with the process. He’ll help with posing and getting just the right smile and expression. For their part, a comfortable but professional & confident wardrobe, their favorite makeup looks (subtle is the name of the game here), and a good night’s rest and ample hydration will set the session up for success.
Q: How long will it take to get our photos back? Will they come to us digital or print (or both?)
A: Along with your wardrobe options - bring your favorite little things - lip gloss, extra makeup - a compact mirror, and your favorite water bottle. I can have a stylist on hand to do hair and makeup if you prefer. Let’s talk about it and design the best possible experience for YOU! You may wish to wear your doctor’s coat with your name and hospital/clinic logo for a healthcare worker or physician headshot. Be sure it’s pristine and pressed - every speck and wrinkle can show up on light-colored fabrics in a photo.
